Successful weight loss is a big step towards a healthier life – whether through obesity treatment, stomach surgery, the Weight Doctors SLEEVE®, a gastric balloon, GLP-⁠1 pharmacotherapy or by conservative means.

Afterwards, many patients face new challenges, because the body often does not quite match the new, lighter you yet: the skin has lost elasticity over the years, and some fat pads are so stubborn for genetic reasons that neither diet nor exercise reaches them. Excess skin, stubborn fat deposits and the wish for tightening remain.

This is where Weight Doctors® RESHAPE comes in: lifts, liposuction and body lift remove excess skin and fatty tissue and shape the body contour. They are not intended for further weight loss.

Who is Weight Doctors® RESHAPE suitable for?

Weight Doctors® RESHAPE comes into question if you have lost a significant amount of weight and your weight is stable. Which procedure then makes sense depends less on how much you have lost than on how your skin and tissue have responded. Whether and which treatment comes into question for you is clarified in the personal consultation.

The specialists see four starting situations particularly often:

  • Mild to moderate laxityNo large skin folds, a wish for a short recovery – as an alternative to conventional surgery, non-surgical skin tightening with Renuvion comes into question.
  • Marked excess of skinIf skin remains that does not recede on its own, with skin folds or restrictions in everyday life, surgical tightening is the more reliable path – on the abdomen, upper arms, thighs or as a body lift on several areas at once.
  • Stubborn fat depositsIf fat pads have remained despite diet and exercise, targeted liposuction shapes individual zones, and 360-degree liposuction the whole trunk. If excess skin remains at the same time, a combination with Renuvion or a body lift often makes sense.
  • Painful fat pads on the legs or armsA lipoedema may be behind this, a pathological disorder of fat distribution that often remains despite weight loss or becomes more visible afterwards. Lipoedema surgery removes the diseased tissue in a targeted way.

The right timing: first stable,
then tighten

A body that is still changing cannot be shaped permanently. That is why the specialists recommend first maintaining the new weight for 6–12 months: the tissue settles, the metabolism normalises, and it is possible to assess exactly which method makes sense. What is Weight Doctors® RESHAPE?

Weight Doctors® RESHAPE is a treatment programme for people who have excess skin or stubborn fat deposits after successful weight loss. It includes lifts, body lift, liposuction, lipoedema surgery and non-surgical skin tightening, and combines the procedures with consultation, support and aftercare.

Who is RESHAPE suitable for?

For patients who have reached their target weight and now also want to round off their journey physically – whether after stomach surgery, the Weight Doctors SLEEVE®, a gastric balloon or GLP-⁠1 therapy. Prerequisites are a stable weight and good general health.

How long should I wait after weight loss before having a lift?

6–12 months with a stable weight are recommended. During this time the tissue adapts, and the specialist can assess exactly which method makes sense in the long term.

Does RESHAPE help with weight loss?

No. The procedures remove excess skin or individual fat deposits and shape the contour. There are separate paths for weight loss, such as stomach reduction or GLP-⁠1 pharmacotherapy.

Won’t the skin tighten on its own with exercise?

Unfortunately, usually not sufficiently. After major weight loss, the skin has often lost so much elasticity that it no longer recedes enough even with training. Exercise remains important for health and muscles, but it hardly helps against pronounced excess skin.

Skin tightening with or without surgery – what is the difference?

Skin tightening with Renuvion tightens the skin with cold plasma without large incisions and is suitable for mild to moderate laxity. With pronounced excess skin, surgical tightening removes the excess skin and is then the more reliable solution. Which path suits you is clarified by the examination.

What does Weight Doctors® RESHAPE cost?

Treatments start at €4,990. What your treatment costs depends on the procedure, the extent and the medical indication; you receive an exact cost estimate after the initial medical consultation. For the medical consultation, we charge €30 under the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ). All prices at a glance: Costs & prices.

Can I combine RESHAPE with other treatments?

Yes. Many people first lose weight with a stomach reduction or GLP-⁠1 therapy and then round off their journey with RESHAPE. Several RESHAPE procedures can also be combined, for example liposuction with skin tightening.

How long does recovery take?

That depends on the procedure. After a treatment with Renuvion, many people are active again after a few days. After an operation, several weeks of rest are needed, with compression garments and check-up appointments; exercise is usually possible again only after a few weeks.

Will scars remain?

Minimally invasive procedures leave only small access points. With a lift operation, scars are created that run, where possible, along natural skin lines or under clothing. With care, for example silicone products, sun protection and massage, they usually fade over time.

Is the result permanent?

Fat cells that have been removed by liposuction and skin that has been removed do not come back. If you put weight on again later, however, fat is deposited in other places. A stable weight, a balanced diet and exercise help the result to last. Results vary from person to person.

Do I have to decide straight after the consultation?

No. At Weight Doctors®, the conversation comes before the treatment. The initial consultation is possible by telephone, video or on site and is with no obligation; only once you have decided on a path does it go any further.
